With maca & coconut

Eating cherries leads to a boost in antioxidant activity in the body. Cherries, certainly sour cherries, are a powerhouse of antioxidants, but they contain even more substances that are good for us. For example, they are a natural source of melatonin, the hormone that controls our sleep cycle. Cherry also contains flavonoids that help to repair muscle cracks that occur during exercise.
Of oatmeal you probably already know that it gives long-lasting energy through the fibers. The beta glucans are soluble fibers that can absorb a lot of water in the intestines. While they do this they can also bind to cholesterol, bile salts and fatty acids. They are therefore also safely disposed of along with it.
Higher libido and greater endurance
Maca powder is optional in this recipe, but if you know what superfood this is then you will probably add it. Maca is a root from Peru that is enormously rich in nutrients such as vitamin C, copper, iron, potassium and vitamin B6. Low in fat and rich in fiber. Maca is traditionally used to promote fertility, increase libido and increase endurance.
You can get maca in powder at most health food stores or online. You usually only use 1 teaspoon at a time (also to make the taste not too overwhelming), so with a jar / bag you can do quite a long time.
- 60 g oats
- 300 ml almond milk
- 2 tsp cookie spices
- 2 drops of stevia
- 2 tsp maca powder
- 250 g frozen cherries
- 100 g pomegranate seeds
- 2 tbsp coconut flakes
1. Put the oatmeal in a pan with the milk, cookie spices and stevia drops.
2. Bring to the boil and keep stirring until you get a thick porridge.
3. Add half of the cherries and the maca powder. Add some extra moisture (water or milk), keep stirring while it simmers gently. Until the porridge is completely warm.
4. Divide the oatmeal into two small bowls, stir in the rest of the cherries, sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and coconut flakes.
